چکیده

A case of a rare benign solitary pulmonary neoplasm of alveolar adenoma type in a 42-year-old man was presented. The tumor consisted of a glandular component which reacted with antibodies against cytokeratins CAM5,2, AE1-3 as well as against epithelial membrane antigen (EMA) in superficial parts of cytoplasmatic membrane, while actin and desmin were positive in the stromal component. Ultrastructurally, glandular component represented chiefly type II pneumocytes, while pneumocytes of type I occurred rarely. Stroma of the tumour consisted of myofibroblasts, fibrocytes, and collagen fibrils.

s:696:"Pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis (PAM) is classified as an elective dysmetabolic thesaurotic pneumoalveolitis and characterized by the presence within the alveoli of the lungs of myriad of tiny calculi. The classic presentation of the chest radiography is unmistakable with multiple small "sand-like" opacities diffusely involving both lung fields. We present a case of male infertility fo...

An unusual case of a microscopic alveolar adenoma coexisting with lung carcinoma: a case report and review of the literature

INTRODUCTION Alveolar adenomas are extremely rare, benign, primary lung tumors of unknown histogenesis that are characterized by proliferative type II alveolar epithelium and septal mesenchyma. Mostly incidental, they are clinically important as they can imitate benign primary and secondary malignant tumors and at times are difficult to differentiate from early-stage lung cancer. We describe th...

Alveolar adenoma of the lung: unusual diagnosis of a lesion positive on PET scan. A case report

The authors report a clinical case of alveolar adenoma presenting as a solitary pulmonary nodule which was positive to PET and deeply located in the lung. Few cases of alveolar adenomas have been reported in literature; these lesions are considered pulmonary neoplasms with benign behaviour, usually presenting as a peripheral or subpleural coin lesion; the PET activities of such neoplasms were u...

Coexistence of lung alveolar adenoma with bronchogenic cyst: a case report and literature review

Alveolar adenoma (AA) is extremely rare benign tumor of the lung. This tumor is comprised of proliferative type II alveolar epithelium and septal mesenchyma and shows characterized immunohistochemical patterns. Up to date, there have been only few reports describing this disease. Here we described a case of alveolar adenoma in a 48-year-old woman. This female patient was incidentally found to h...
